About Wrightwood

Wrightwood sits among the pines on the northern side of the San Gabriel Mountains, about 6,000 feet above sea level. The community counted 4,720 residents in the 2020 census. From Interstate 15, Highway 138 and Highway 2 lead into town through the foothills.

Long before ranchers and vacationers arrived, Serrano people knew and used these mountains. Later, cattle ranches and apple orchards helped shape the valley. Subdivision, mountain cabins, and winter sports brought another stage of development as Wrightwood grew into a resort and residential community. Older buildings still connect that history with everyday life.

Wrightwood has four distinct seasons and plenty of reasons to spend time outside. Camping, hiking, picnicking, nearby fishing, and winter recreation draw visitors throughout the year. Sometimes a walk through the village and lunch under the pines are enough.

The surrounding mountains offer access to the Pacific Crest Trail, Mount Baden-Powell, and the Angeles National Forest. Trails range from short outings to longer climbs into the high country.

Nearby Mountain High offers skiing and snowboarding, with terrain for beginners and experienced visitors. Designated snowplay areas provide other ways to enjoy winter when conditions permit.

In the village, shops, restaurants, cabins, and community gathering places give Wrightwood its familiar mountain-town character. Come for a day, stay for a vacation, or settle in. There is room to enjoy the mountains at your own pace.
